Hostel

Travelling alone, I always prefer staying in hostels. True, there’s little (or rather - no) privacy, but you always get to meet new people. While some hostels around the world are just a place to stop for the night, get some rest, and move on, the good hostels (and most places I’ve been to in Australia are like that) have a common area where guests would just sit around, relax, and chit chat for a while. The hostel I’m staying in in Sydney is occupied mostly by long term residents. Either European youths on a Working Holiday visa, or older folks seeking budget accommodation, or just the company, while looking for jobs in the area. So for the most part, you see pretty much the same faces every day. Sure, there are some weirdoes, but there are many nice, and interesting people. Where else would you find yourself surrounded by people from England, France, Germany, the United States, Belgium, Ireland and Israel, some as young as 18, some past their 50s, all sitting around the same table, drinking, talking, cracking jokes?
