When the senses deceive us, and the facts elude us
Sometimes to get your way you must stray from the path
And follow the tipsy compass

I had a drink with a man once, who told me that over the course of ten years, he had not stayed in one place for more than one year. If you want to grow as a person, he suggested, you must always be out of your comfort zone, because otherwise, routine will nibble at you, and stagnation will follow. He was a little extreme, I admit, but something about what he said appealed to me.

We tend to get stuck in places that are not good for us, just because we’re already there. We rant, and suffer in more silence of less, we try to find the points of light in the dark room we’re trapped in. There are many ways to break the chains. I chose to get away. To take distance from my old life, to experience a new culture, a new geography.

I don’t know what lies ahead, but this is now my path.
